Task:

Please resort to the case study listed above and read it first from the required book: Cases in Healthcare Finance. Please follow with the Case Highlights ppts presenting Key Learning Points in each case. Please follow with the Focus Questions leading your critical thinking though the concepts in each case. Next, please analyze thoroughly the complete Excel Spreadsheet-based models supporting each case, with all formulas and data provided. Both, the addressed cases and your own experience, you are strongly encouraged to share, will constitute the real life issues and problems to be resorted to, and discussed while presenting  Practical Application of Financial Analysis, Cash Budgeting and Forecasting (Ratios and DuPont analysis). Please support your assignment with presentations of financial models, interpretations, explanations of theoretical concepts referred to. Please provide supporting data, and references for your arguments. Please be detailed, precise and clear in your critical analysis. Your write-up should be comprehensive, well-organized and concluded with suggested solutions and recommendations.

Prepare a managerial report with narrative (analysis, explanations, conclusions, and recommendations) with supporting data (with tables transferred from excel spreadsheet) pasted throughout the text when you are referring to them. It needs to be a thorough and in-depth financial analysis (applied not theoretical) providing comprehensive assessment of financial performance. You do not have to answer questions included in the cases, but they are to help you with assessing the financial performance and presenting Ratios (KPIs and ratios covering all areas of financial assessment) and DuPont analysis, according to the objectives of the assignment. You could start with a trend analysis and general explanation of the basic financial performance analysis with application of Balance Sheet and Income Statement, and with the interpretation of the key financial ratios.

Case Study

Micky Lam owns and operates a delivery transportation company.  He says to Jerry Kong (a supplier of commercial vehicles): “The 15 tonnes lorry that I use to transport goods has broken down and needs replacing.  I want a new one that will run without any problems. It is critical that I have a lorry that is in a tip top condition at all times.”  Jerry says that he will be able to deliver to Micky such a lorry. Micky emphasised that the changeover must go smoothly, failing which his business will suffer losses.

’I have clients that need my delivery transportation service each day and if there is any disruption they’ll go elsewhere.”  Micky and Jerry then agree that Jerry will sell a 10 tonnes lorry to Micky and deliver it to Micky’s shop on the first day of the following month.

When the lorry is delivered Micky got rid of his old lorry.  Two weeks later, the new lorry stops working.  Micky calls Jerry who promised that he will send the mechanics to check what is wrong and they find that the electronic components of the lorry are faulty.  It will take at least three (3) days to get the lorry repaired.  Micky immediately telephones Jerry, who says that he will send a replacement lorry the next day.

Micky is due to deliver some goods for his very regular customer with whom he has an ongoing contract for a year.  He is worried that he will not be able to deliver the goods on time.  He rented a lorry for RM400 to send the goods but it was already late in the day and the shop had closed for the day and Micky cannot deliver the goods for his client. The client, furious at being let down, says he will no longer use the transportation services provided by Micky.

The next day, Jerry delivers a replacement lorry as promised. However, Micky lost a contract valued at RM20,000 to transport goods for his client.

Micky now wants to bring an action for breach of contract against Jerry to recover the following:

a. RM400, being the cost of renting the lorry;

b. RM20,000, being the profit he would have made over the rest of the year on the contract which his client has now terminated. Such contracts are very hard to get; and

c. RM1,000 for the anxiety he suffered from while dealing with these events.

Jerry says he has now delivered a good lorry and denies any further liability under the contract to Micky.

Using the for step process discuss the relevant principles of law for claimable damages and advise Micky if he will be able to claim for all the losses mentioned above from Jerry.

Jessica, who wants an assortment of cakes for her birthday party came to Martha’s bakery and made her order. She was given a receipt for the orders she made. Type reflection on the assigned reading. Students may choose which five assigned readings they wish to write their thought pieces on. Hand these in over LMS/Moodle, as Thought Piece #1-#5. These are a chance to explore critical questions about the text, to relate the ideas in the text to contemporary experience, and to propose possible theses, so as to prepare for the essay and exams. Do not merely provide an overview of all the author wrote. Instead, try to pose an interesting question about the text (research question) and then explore a possible answer to the question (thesis). The instructor will sometimes provide a suggested reflection question, but students are free to write about what they find most interesting in the text. Students may choose to develop an answer to one of the assigned study/reading questions as their thought piece. This is great preparation for the exams. These pieces are marked out of 3 points for completeness and effort. Be sure to cite any direct quotes, in footnote or author-date style. No external (secondary) source is required for these, only the primary text. If you choose to write a thought piece on a given book or chapter of a major author (example, Book 2 of Plato’s Republic), hand this in before the live session lecture on that reading. These thought pieces should be your exploration of a text before the interpretive professor lecture, and not a reproduction of the prof’s lecture.

(Solved): Develop skills in analyzing media-presented issues related t...

Develop skills in analyzing media-presented issues related to the nursing profession and nursing practice; and explore the public perception of nurses and the nursing profession.

To complete this assignment:

Focus on a current issue in nursing; and examine this issue in the context of written opinions expressed through three (3) separate types of media. Issues are often value laden; issues in health care and in nursing are no different. Concerns about the state of our health care system and the state of nursing in Canada have been discussed at length within the media, government, and nursing organizations. While it is often difficult to differentiate fact from fiction and opinion, public opinion is often influenced by what is written in the popular press or on the Internet.

Assignment Expectations

Find three articles on the same issue/topic.

One of the articles must be from a popular periodical or media source, preferably something you may have at home (such as Macleans, Time, Reader’s Digest, or your local newspaper – either print based or online version) or CBC, CTV, or CNN online articles.

Your second article must be from a scholarly periodical either print version [e.g. The Canadian Nurse] or retrieved from a database [e.g. AU Library, CINAHL, Medline, etc.].

The third article must be from a Web site that is not merely a Web version of a print source. The articles should represent a range of views; in other words, these articles should not all agree.

The introduction includes a thesis that prepares your reader for the general topic the articles address, the issues they raise, and the position you will be taking.

Summarize each article separately by stating in your own words the important information presented in each article and any arguments the authors make.

Do not paraphrase the whole article; present the main points briefly—each summary should be one paragraph long, two at the most.

When summarizing, it is not appropriate to dwell on extended examples (such as personal case histories or stories); you do not need to summarize complex statistical parts of a study.

You should focus on the main ideas and issues discussed. You could briefly refer to any specific personal stories or statistical sections of the piece (using one or two sentences).

Respond to the three articles by: comparing the authors’ credibility, documentation, and support for claims;evaluating any disagreements or agreements between the authors; andarticulating your own position on their ideas or issues. This means more than just stating your opinion; you must also explain it.

Describe how your personal and professional values influence your views on this issue.

Document your sources using correct APA style. This paper adheres to a 7 page limit excluding reference and title pages.
